Clean slate for art gallery in Yeppoon after rent waivered
IT'S a hub for creative flair, with events galore scheduled in the coming months, but The Mill Gallery in Yeppoon is looking to start off on a clean slate.
Gallery committee president Jan Collins is encouraging locals to support the art hall, and the community's art scene, after Livingstone Shire Council yesterday waived the gallery's outstanding rates arrears of $2707.
The hall is run by volunteers.
Since de-amalgamation, the gallery committee had been paying rates.
The arrears accumulated during the period before de-amalgamation because Rockhampton Regional Council said it would pay the outstanding rates as "sponsorship", but that never happened.
The Mill Gallery has been based at Yeppoon's Normanby St for almost 20 years.
