Yeppoon shivers at 1.8 degrees
2.50pm: YEPPOON residents experienced their second coldest day of 2011 today, with this morning’s temperature dropping to as low as 5.5 degrees at 7am.
But some would argue the mercury dropped lower than that, feeling the apparent temperature of 1.8 degrees, better known as the outdoor temperature caused by air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed.
Rockhampton was not far off Yeppoon this morning at 6 six degrees, with the mininum apparent temperature at 3.7.
But no Central Queenslanders felt the freeze as much as Biloela’s early risers at 4.30am.
Their minimum temperature was minus 0.8 and their apparent temperature was a frosty minus 4.4.
But Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Mike Marrinan said to expect warmer temperatures tomorrow, with a return to average to minimum temperatures.
This means about 10.9 degrees for the Beef Capital, 13.5 for Yeppoon, seven for Biloela and 13.3 for Gladstone.
