Rain won't dampen Yeppoon Show
THE Yeppoon Show promises a day of fun, food and entertainment, just don't forget your umbrella.
With clouds looming over the coast yesterday, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Mike Marrinan said Yeppoon could be in for 50 to 100mm this weekend.
“We're looking at rain developing during (today) and continuing through the bulk of the break,” Mr Marrinan said.
“During Saturday and Sunday rain is forecast with probably moderate, perhaps even heavy falls at the coast.”
He said the possibility of between 50 and 100mm over the long weekend was significant at this time of year.
Rockhampton appears set for a wet weekend as well, with between 40 and 50mm predicted.
Bureau of meteorology forecasts suggest wet weather as well as wind will make for a cool weekend throughout the region.
Janelle Westcott isn't letting the bleak forecast dampen her spirits as she prepares her students at Janelle's Academy of Dance to perform at the show tomorrow night.
“All the kids love performing at the show, the audience is so close,” Janelle said.
She said the dancers would perform a combination of jazz, tap classical and contemporary routines as part of The Morning Bulletin Greatest Saturday Night Show starting at 5pm.
The McDonald's-Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre 2011 Yeppoon Show will also feature various other stalls and displays including animal shows, woodchopping and even lawn mower racing.
The show starts at 8am both days finishing at 10pm Saturday and 5pm on Sunday at the Yeppoon Showgrounds.
