Council close Yeppoon main street due to flash flooding
THE main street of Yeppoon was closed yesterday, as more than 400mm fell on the coastal town in just 30 hours.
At 6.30pm, Livingstone Shire Council activated the Local Disaster Management Group due to flash flooding.
Residents were urged to keep off the roads, as the wet weather made driving conditions dangerous and kept emergency services busy.
A long list of roads across the Capricorn Coast were cut off by water and a landslide closed the Scenic Hwy.
While falls weren't as heavy in Rockhampton, the city still recorded 128.6mm between 9am Tuesday and 6pm last night.
However, there were no reports of any major incidents as of 7pm last night.
A severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Capricornia district was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology yesterday and was still in place at 8pm.
Today: Cloudy. Rain. Possible heavy falls. Isolated thunderstorms, more likely near the coast. Overnight temperatures falling to the low 20s with daytime temperatures reaching the mid 20s.
