Yeppoon Town Hall packed as candidate forum gets under way

IT was standing room only tonight as the residents of Livingstone Shire showed exactly how interested they are in the future of their new council.

Over 400 people listened for three hours as the sheer number of candidates gave way to the quality of potential councillors.

Ironically, it was the town hall redeveloped by the Rockhampton Regional Council that was the setting for the candidate forum in the reclaimed shire.

Until recently, former mayor Bill Ludwig was the only candidate for mayor, but tonight's meeting showed strong presentations from former RACQ Rescue Helicopter CEO, Kay Becker and businessman Brian Fisher.

Mr Fisher was unable to attend due to a family bereavement but his presentation was read to the audience.
