12-year-old girl pens note to ‘scum’ who stole scooter

A YOUNG girl has penned a letter to the "scum" who stole her scooter.

Her mum Jodie Palmer posted the letter on the Toowoomba Crime Alerts and Discussions page on Facebook, hoping someone would come forward with information.

Sarah Palmer's scooter was stolen between 7.30pm and 8pm on Sunday from her front yard in Harristown.

Ms Palmer said her 12-year-old daughter was devastated to find her scooter missing.

Sarah penned a letter straight away and attached it to the pole outside her home.

The letter reads:

"Have you seen my scooter? My scooter has an apple sticker on it. It is big and has big wheels.

"It is mostly grey with black tyres. I am very sad.

"Some scum took my scooter. He had a cap on aged 12- 13. Taken around 7.56pm Sunday night. I am only 12."

Sarah also drew a picture of her scooter to accompany the note.

Since the letter was posted on Facebook kind strangers have offered their bikes to Sarah but Ms Palmer said she just wanted her scooter back.

"We bought it at a garage sale about six months ago. We got it for a good price but it is worth about $300," she said.

"Sarah rides it every afternoon up and down the street.

"She absolutely loves it and it's broken her heart to have it stolen.

"She searched the bike racks at school with no luck. It is a hard lesson for her to learn to not leave her scooter in the front yard but she had just come inside and it was right beside the front door."

Sarah Palmer had her scooter stolen an penned a letter in a bid to get it back.

Ms Palmer said people on Toowoomba's crime Facebook page were very kind.

"The post has quite a few comments and while she was offered a mountain bike, I think she will be too short for it and it is her scooter that she desperately wants."
