Young men hurt in rollover

THE RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter has airlifted two seriously ill patients from the scene of a single vehicle car accident yesterday at Koumala, 55km south of Mackay.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:20pm yesterday when a 4WD travelling on a rural road flipped and landed on its roof in a cane paddock, 60 metres from the road.

The male occupants, aged in their late teens to early 20s, were seriously injured, one with head injuries and the other sustaining lower leg injuries.

It appears the accident occurred close to where the occupants of the vehicle resided.

The patients were airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital by CQ Rescue helicopter, arriving at 6:35pm.
