Young Rocky parents get firsthand driving and goal lessons

HUMAN Services Minister Jan McLucas has today met firsthand with some of the young participants in the Driving to Engage program in Rockhampton.

Designed to help young parents qualify for a driver's licence and set life goals, the program is run by Rockhampton's Salvation Army Employment Plus team.

It recently received $173,000 during the Australian Government's second round of grants for community-led projects under the Local Solutions Fund, an initiative of the Building Australia's Future Workforce package.

Ms McLucas said speaking with young mums about the opportunities they had gained through the program was a special experience.
