Young writer wins award

CONGRATULATIONS to Rockhampton Girls Grammar student Thevni Nanayakkara for taking out this month's Morning Bulletin Young Writer Award.

Thevni, 6, who was accompanied by her mother Harshani Randiligama and father Muditha Manayakkara, was overwhelmed to receive a trophy and $30 gift voucher.

Thevni's story tells the tale of a dog who loves to read books:

Book Dog

Once upon a time there was a dog called Book Dog.

Whenever Book Dog read a book, that book took him on an adventure.

Because he liked books so much he never let anyone read a book.

One day a new dog came to town and told Book Dog to share books.

Then Book Dog agreed and everyone was happy.
