Zane to tear up track in round six of Aussie champs
ZANE Keleher will continue his pursuit of national glory when he tears up the track in round six of the Monster energy MX Australian Championships this weekend.
The 21-year-old Rockhampton motocross rider will travel to Swan Hill, Victoria to contest the event on Sunday and has high expectations of producing strong results.
Keleher put on a solid display in round two of the championships in March, but missed rounds three and four.
The talented rider hoped to redeem lost points from the missed rounds this weekend and was confident of attending the remaining five rounds of the competition.
"I haven't really done the last couple of rounds for a few reasons; the truck I was in didn't go to Adelaide and Perth, so I had to miss those rounds. But hopefully this weekend I'll get around and get where I need to be," Keleher said.
"It's going to be pretty tough. Everyone is riding pretty well this year, so it will be tough.
"There's another five rounds, one in Newcastle, a couple on the Sunshine Coast and one in Gladstone. I should get to all of them."
Keleher said he was keen to test out months of hard training and racing on the new course at Swan Hill.
"This is a new course, actually, and I've never been there. It's like a red sandy sort of track and similar to our local tracks, but it's a good venue," he said.
"The good side is training's been going well. I've been doing well and my on-bike training has been going pretty well as well, so I'm feeling pretty strong.
"I've done as many local competitions as I can fit in with a busy schedule between travelling, but I have to miss some of the local ones to get to the nationals."
Keleher was also pleased to have new sponsor - Shanahan Swaffield Partners - come on board and thanked them for their support.
