Look who's new at the Zoo

TARA Jeffery dreams of being on the cover of Zoo Weekly.

And she's edging closer to achieving that dream as she prepares to head to the Gold Coast to compete in the magazine's Australian Swimsuit Calendar finals.

The 26-year-old Rockhampton beauty will vie for the honour of having her own month in the calendar.

The winner of the competition gets to travel overseas for the international calendar competition.

No stranger to the pages of Zoo Weekly, Tara made it to the top 20 in the Strip Search competition last year.

Tara said she'd always been interested in modelling but it wasn't until she was 24 that she plucked up the courage to give it a go.

“My ultimate dream is to be on the cover on Zoo magazine or definitely a centrefold at least,” Tara said.

She holds down a fulltime job as an admin officer and enjoys modelling part time.

“I don't know about a full-time career, but there's certainly a lot of goals I'd like to achieve,” Tara said.

“There's a lot of pretty girls out there, I don't know that I'm naïve enough to think I can pursue it as a full-time career.”

But Tara is adding more skills to her modelling repertoire, having taken an interest in photography as well.

“Now that I've been a photographer it's definitely helped my modelling,” Tara said.

The Heritage Hotel is sponsoring Tara's trip to the calendar finals and has also hired her to work the door at their nightclub on weekends.

“If anyone wants to see me they can pop down there and say hi,” Tara said.
