Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended his government’s vaccine rollout program and announced around 85 per cent of the aged care facilities have received the vaccine.
The Commonwealth has secured an additional 15 million doses of the Moderna vaccine, which the prime minister said would serve as “booster shots”.
Mr Morrison said he was pleased with Saturday’s vaccination numbers which was a record day for a Saturday with more than 30,000 jabs administered.
“We tripped over the three million mark on Friday – as I said we would – and we are seeing the vaccination program go from strength to strength,” the prime minister said.
“We had a particularly good progress in aged care facilities. We are through about 85 per cent of those now and are on track in completing that to the timetable.”
